Neo
Neo is Onboard’s AI assistant — one assistant, four surfaces. He answers guest questions, works alongside the team, and is the same Neo across app, web, docs and support.
Neo is not a single feature — he is the voice of Onboard: the little robot that shows up wherever Onboard talks to people. Technically each surface has its own endpoint; for users it is the same assistant with the same face everywhere.
Where Neo lives
| Name | Type | Required | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Guest concierge (mobile app) | surface | — | — | On every restaurant page in the guest app, Neo answers questions about hours, menu and directions — no login needed, grounded in that restaurant’s public data — and helps book a table right away. |
| Team assistant (web + team app) | surface | — | — | In the backoffice Neo creates reservations, checks availability, filters team lists, imports menus from PDF and answers metric questions — through a fixed tool catalog with the signed-in user’s permissions. |
| Docs chat | surface | — | — | On the right side of this documentation Neo runs the docs chat: he answers any Onboard question and points to the matching article. |
| Support chat | surface | — | — | In support Neo is the first line. He resolves the most common questions instantly and hands everything else over to a human. |
Neo knows which surface and role is talking to him. In the staff app he suggests different actions than on the manager tablet or in the web backoffice — suggestions are always constrained to what the user can actually do on that surface.
Permissions & privacy
Neo never has more rights than the person talking to him. In the team context, the signed-in user’s role-based access and module assignments apply; as the guest concierge he only sees the restaurant’s public data. Details in AI privacy.
And outside of Onboard?
If guests prefer booking inside ChatGPT or Claude, that works too — via the AI booking gateway (MCP). That is not Neo himself, but the standardized interface through which external AI agents find and book Onboard restaurants. See MCP overview.
